The Samsung EHS TDM Plus AE160BNYDEH/EU Hydro Kit is a wall-mounted hydraulic module without an integrated tank, designed to be part of Samsung EHS TDM Plus air source heat pump systems using R410A refrigerant. This unit converts the energy from the refrigerant circuit coming from the outdoor unit into hot or cold water to supply hydronic heating and cooling systems, and can operate in TDM Plus configurations of 12 and 16 kW depending on the outdoor unit it is paired with.
In a 12 kW installation, this Hydro Kit can be combined with the Samsung outdoor unit AE120MXTPEH/EU. The resulting system provides a nominal output of 12 kW in both heating and cooling. The same hydraulic module reference is also compatible with the AE160MXTPEH/EU outdoor unit to configure a system of up to 16 kW in heating.
The AE160BNYDEH/EU acts as the interface between the heat pump refrigerant circuit and the building’s hydraulic circuit. It receives the thermal energy generated by the outdoor unit and transfers it to the water that then circulates to the different climate emitters.
It can be used to supply installations such as underfloor heating, fan coils, low-temperature radiators and other compatible hydronic emitters. It can also be part of a system designed to produce domestic hot water using a suitably sized external tank.
Samsung TDM Plus technology makes it possible to combine air-to-water and air-to-air climate control within the same system. This allows the hydronic circuit to be used for underfloor heating or water-based emitters while also incorporating compatible direct expansion indoor units for faster thermal response in certain rooms.
This architecture provides flexibility in system design, as it allows different emission systems to be combined using a single compatible TDM Plus outdoor unit.
The AE160BNYDEH/EU reference can work with different TDM Plus outdoor units. Samsung specifically contemplates its combination with:
With the AE120MXTPEH/EU outdoor unit, the system delivers a nominal heating capacity of 12 kW at A7/W35 and a nominal cooling capacity of 12 kW at A35/W18.
With the AE160MXTPEH/EU outdoor unit, the system reaches up to 16 kW nominal in heating and 14.5 kW in cooling.
The hydraulic module can operate with different flow temperatures depending on the selected mode. Samsung specifies a water outlet temperature of:
This wide range makes it suitable for underfloor heating/cooling, fan coils and other hydronic emitters designed to work with a heat pump.
The AE160BNYDEH/EU is a wall-mounted Hydro Kit without an integrated storage tank. This allows the most suitable domestic hot water cylinder to be selected separately according to the needs of each project.
This configuration differs from Samsung ClimateHub solutions, which incorporate the DHW tank inside the indoor unit itself. The wall-mounted format is especially interesting when a compatible cylinder already exists or when an external tank with a specific capacity is to be installed.
The Hydro Kit includes a 6 kW auxiliary electric heater. This element can provide additional support to the hydraulic system when operating conditions or the system configuration require it.
The heater operation is managed by the installation control system and must be configured according to the thermal requirements, available electrical power and parameters set by Samsung.
Samsung includes the 2-zone control function in the EHS range. This feature allows two circuits requiring different water temperatures to be managed simultaneously, making it easier to install systems with different types of emitters.
For example, one zone can be used for low-temperature underfloor heating and another for emitters that require a different flow temperature, provided the hydraulic system is designed with the corresponding control components.
The Samsung EHS TDM Plus range includes functions ready for photovoltaic and Smart Grid integration. The photovoltaic integration function allows operation to be adapted according to the availability of solar production, while Smart Grid compatibility allows the system to respond to certain signals from a smart electrical grid.
These functions depend on the system configuration and the installation of the necessary control elements.
The Hydro Kit water inlet and outlet connections are sized at 1 1/4". This diameter is designed to handle the hydraulic flow rates required by the high-power configurations compatible with the module.
The sizing of the piping, pump, expansion vessel, safety devices and the rest of the circuit must be carried out according to the required flow rate and Samsung’s technical specifications.
The module connects to the outdoor unit via refrigerant piping. For this reference, Samsung specifies:
The circuit is part of a bibloc system using R410A refrigerant. Installation and handling of the refrigerant circuit must be carried out by qualified personnel, respecting the distances, height differences, refrigerant charge and other conditions defined by Samsung.
The AE160BNYDEH/EU reference corresponds to the single-phase version of the hydraulic module. Its power supply is 220-240 V at 50 Hz.
Samsung also markets the AE160BNYDGH/EU variant with three-phase power supply for projects requiring this type of electrical supply.
As it does not include an integrated tank, the Hydro Kit has compact dimensions for a hydraulic unit of its capacity:
Its wall-mounted format makes installation easier in technical rooms and indoor spaces where the hydraulic module is to be kept separate from the DHW tank.
As an indoor hydraulic module, its acoustic operation is considerably quieter than that of an outdoor unit. Samsung’s current datasheet states a sound pressure level of 38 dB(A) and a sound power of 55 dB(A) for this reference.
The actual acoustic perception will also depend on the location, wall mounting, water circulation and the characteristics of the hydraulic installation.
Although the AE160BNYDEH/EU does not include a DHW tank, it can be integrated into installations designed to produce domestic hot water using a compatible external cylinder and the necessary hydraulic and control components.
This solution makes it possible to choose the cylinder volume according to the number of users and expected consumption, providing greater flexibility than a unit with a fixed integrated tank capacity.
Combined with the Samsung AE120MXTPEH/EU outdoor unit, the AE160BNYDEH/EU forms part of an EHS TDM Plus system with 12 kW nominal heating and 12 kW cooling. This configuration makes it possible to use air-to-water heat pump technology for hydronic climate control and, thanks to TDM Plus technology, combine it with air-to-air climate control through compatible indoor units.
Its wall-mounted format without an integrated tank provides the freedom to select an external DHW cylinder, while the 6 kW backup heater, two-zone control and functions ready for photovoltaic and Smart Grid integration expand the installation configuration possibilities.
The Hydro Kit must be combined with a compatible TDM Plus outdoor unit and the necessary hydraulic components, DHW tank, controls and accessories to complete the system. Sizing, refrigerant and hydraulic installation, and commissioning must be carried out by qualified professionals following Samsung’s technical documentation and current regulations.
